A muck so dark that light cannot penetrate its depth. The sun shining through the dense foliage of the trees only reflects off of the pool making it appear like an ebony gem in the ground. One dawn as the suns light begins to shine down as it has for centuries the perfect stillness of the pool is broken. Though nothing can be seen within the pool, the light reflected off the pool reveals ripples of movement stirring within the muck. The as the ripples grow larger, what appears to be a limb breaches the muck. It clings to the bank of the black pool, with a grip of desperation. A second limb in kind emerges. The limbs struggle to drag the remainder of the mysterious form from the muck to escape the black prison. Scraping and straining finally the body of this creature from the void emerges. Covered in black, think, dripping sludge it appears to be a beast with almost no form. A thing that now moves slowly like a hulking slug that shifts through the forest, as the forest appears to shudder at its mere presence. Occasionally the beast pauses, and looks up through the trees. It appears thoughtful, as if admiring the bits of light it is privy to. As the day continues so does the journey of this muck covered monstrosity through the wooded paths. Though appearing to have no intentions its speed begins to pick up, it&#8217;s movements seeming more driven and deliberate. Where there were once creatures trotting through all areas of the forest now there seems to be a living things giving the beast a wide berth. Even though seeming alone the beast still cautiously surveys its surrounds as it continues to move by unseen forces. As the sun reaches its peak in the sky the best finally appears to be at its destination, the edge of the forest. It emerges from the forest, much as it emerged from the muck and void where it appeared to be spawned.<br \/>\nAs the hulking black figure takes steps out of the forest still dripping with muck it hesitates in the fullness in the light of the sun. Being bathed in the full light the beast lowers itself as if to try to escape the intensity. However, after some time and adjustment, the beast finds its resolves and begins a new trek through the vast plains. In the bright, ever present sun the muck around the beast begins to dry. The pitch black muck begins to hard, slowing the beasts progression until finally it is is stopped. A ways from the forest a formless statue of obsidian rock now exists on the plain. As the days in the light pass, creature wander around the giant rock, paying little or no attention to the out of place monolith. Within the unassuming rock a creature stirs. Held tight by the laws of nature that everything, even a creature from the void, must abide by. The days go by with not movement, no sign of life, not unlike the pool of darkness from which the beast originally emerged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a deep rich wood exists a pool of blackness.
